About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Columbia, SC. This role offers the opportunity to lead mechanical design projects from concept through production, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally with sales, project management, procurement, production, and quality assurance.
You’ll play a key role in translating customer requirements into manufacturable designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, while driving innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and document requirements for new or existing mechanical systems.
- Lead design projects using SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, and Vault.
- Develop prototypes, test, and analyze results to validate performance.
- Mentor and support junior mechanical engineers.
- Ensure deliverables comply with UL standards and client specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet client and production needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the manufacturing process.
- Manage change control and maintain project timelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited).
- 10 years of engineering experience in mechanical/electromechanical design.
- Preferred: knowledge of electrical power distribution systems & UL standards (UL 891, UL 1558, UL 67, UL 857, UL 1008, UL 62368/60950).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, Vault, and MS Office.
- Strong problem-solving ability, mathematical foundation, and leadership skills.
