Plant Engineering Manager

Position Summary:
The Plant Engineering Manager will plan, direct, and oversee engineering operations across multiple facilities, ensuring process efficiency, cost control, and compliance with safety and quality standards. This leader will partner with operations, QA, and Safety teams while managing capital projects, equipment installations, and process development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee engineering operations at Skokie and Niles plants, supporting operations, QA, and Safety teams.
- Lead capital projects, including $4–5M equipment investments and system upgrades (e.g., boiler systems).
- Manage process and packaging engineering functions, prioritizing projects to meet timelines and budgets.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across the plants.
- Hire, mentor, and manage engineering staff, including performance reviews and discipline when necessary.
- Collaborate with outside vendors, contractors, and resources to implement projects efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering field; ChemE considered with relevant experience).
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in food manufacturing, preferably in confectionery.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills; ability to hire, mentor, and manage staff effectively.
- Broad technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems (HVAC, process air, production machinery, packaging equipment).
- Proven experience in project management, budgeting, and capital project execution.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary ~$160K
- 25% profit-based annual bonus (paid 100% last 3 years)
