Healthcare Sterilization Systems Installer A day in this role Picture your morning: you load a company vehicle and head into Manhattan, Long Island, or Northern New Jersey to support a hospital project. Some weeks, you may be on a Monday–Friday trip, with up to two weekends a month as needed. Hours flex with Customer schedules—overtime is often available but never guaranteed. This high-travel role involves significant driving and periodic overnight stays.On site, you’re the face of STERIS—installing sterilizers, surgical lights/booms, and utility connections in operating rooms and sterile processing departments. You coordinate timing with the Installation Project Manager, verify rough-ins and utilities against specifications, confirm doorways/elevators/hallways allow safe transport, and then uncrate, position, level, connect, and test each unit. Before you leave, you complete electronic service documentation, dispose of packing materials, wipe down equipment, remove fingerprints, and address any final questions to ensure Customer satisfaction. At times, you’ll also support projects in other states and hospital systems, giving you exposure to diverse sites and teams. Core responsibilities Partner with the Installation Project Manager to align installation timing with deliveries, Customer availability, and construction milestones.Verify rough-in dimensions and utility readiness per equipment specifications; assess site access (doorways, elevators, corridors).Uncrate, assemble, set or lift equipment into place, level, connect utilities, and test operation.Complete all service documentation electronically.Perform post-install finishing: remove and dispose of crates/packaging, wipe down units, and resolve on-the-spot questions or issues. Travel and territory Primary territory: NYC, Manhattan, most of Long Island, and Northern NJ as needed.Day trips and possible Monday–Friday trips; some weekend work (not more than two weekends/month).High travel/commute with significant driving and likely overnight stays. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years of recent mechanical experience in construction or HVAC installation/repair; OR an Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or similar field plus 1 year of related mechanical experience.Plumbing and electrical experience strongly preferred.Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.Excellent Customer-facing communication skills (verbal and written).Comfort with computers and Windows software.Flexibility to juggle changing priorities and work outside standard business hours as needed.Ability to travel extensively to support business needs.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
