POSITION: Peer Support Specialist
LOCATION: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
QUALIFICATIONS:
- high school diploma or equivalent
- be willing to obtain and maintain Peer Support Specialist Certification in
Kentucky
- two years of sobriety
- familiarity with various recovery models: 12 Step, Rational Recovery, faithbased initiatives, medicationassisted treatment (MAT)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TRAINING:
- set the example: teach and model recovery
- facilitate group and individual sessions as needed
- help patients define their personal recovery goals
- teach and model coping techniques and selfhelp strategies
- empower patients to overcome and combat the stigma of addiction
- support medicationassisted addiction recovery when appropriate
- support whichever recovery strategy works best for the individual patient
- meet with all patients on the first appointment date
- participate in treatment team meetings
- help develop patients’ treatment plans
- maintain peer support certification under the direction of the Clinical Services Director
- complete training in crisisintervention, standard first aid, and CPR by a certified instructor
SHIFT: Monday – Friday
