JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The EHS Specialist is assigned as an embedded consultant at Pratt & Whitney Engine Services in Bridgeport, WV. This position has the primary responsibility of meeting PWES needs, but assistance to other client needs may be required. EHS project completion through proper project management methods is necessary for all projects and clients. The appropriate education and expertise of the EHS Specialist is necessary to complete site tasks in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as PWES corporate policies and procedures. Primary job duties include Safety and Environmental program implementation and management. This EHS Specialist must have sufficient technical knowledge and the soft skills to deal with a variety of PWES staff and situations.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
REPORTS TO: VP of Special Operations and will receive directions from both VP of Special Operations and the PWES EHS Manager.
SUPERVISES: EHS Technicians when Benchmark Technician only when work is required at PWES.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate with PWES and other clients in a professional manner and ensure client is kept informed of project status and schedule.
- Evaluate client needs and respond in a timely manner.
- Perform various EHS tasks required to meet state and federal regulations and internal policies and procedures.
- Perform site EHS tasks as directed by client.
- Comply with and oversee site EHS committees and implement site level plans.
- Coordinate project timelines to meet client needs.
- Assign project duties to Technicians.
- Solicit project input from VP of Special Operations and other Benchmark Staff as directed.
- Participate in site level EHS Forums and work with corporate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Manage action plans from audits, inspections, and observations. To include updating project plans and following up with project to completion.
- Use of EHS electronic management systems to manage incidents, action plans, management of change projects, and other safety programs (Enablon/EHS SMART).
- Provide guidance on RCRA hazardous waste activities and work with sites Waste Coordinator. Including creating and reviewing hazardous waste profiles and shipments.
- EDUCATION: Minimum of BS or BA in EHS-related studies
- WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3-5 years of EHS experience.
PREFERRED:
Trained in RCRA Hazardous Waste Regulations
Familiarity with environmental regulations
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Lifting up to 25 lbs., some stretching and reaching, ability to work under stress and time restraints, walking and climbing stairs, sitting/standing long periods. Combination of field and office work. Ability to use a respirator while working.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: In almost any environment, work may include hot or cold conditions. Various personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required on-site. An indoor office environment with extended periods of time working on a PC is required. The position may require some travel. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel overnight.
Pay: $60,600.00 - $90,901.00 per year
