What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Stepping Stones Preschool?
Stepping Stones Preschool is seeking a dependable, caring, and energetic Substitute Teacher to support our classrooms when regular staff members are absent. The Substitute Teacher will help provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 3 months to 5 year olds.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, caring, and positive environment for children.
- Supervise and engage children throughout the day.
- Follow the classroom schedule, routines, and daily activities.
- Support play-based learning and outdoor activities.
- Assist with meals, snacks, diapering/toileting, handwashing, and rest time as needed.
- Encourage positive behavior and respectful interactions.
- Follow all health, safety, and childcare licensing requirements.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of children at all times.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, and staff.
- Help keep the classroom clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Follow Stepping Stones Preschool policies and procedures.
- Complete required documentation and communicate any concerns to the Director or Lead Teacher.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Early childhood education experience or education is a plus.
- Must be dependable, responsible, patient, and flexible.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and participate in children's activities.
- Ability to safely lift and carry young children when necessary.
- Must be comfortable working with children ages 3 months to 5 years old.
- Must be able to work as part of a team.
- Must meet all Vermont childcare licensing requirements, including required background checks and fingerprinting.
Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
