What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Staff – Early Childhood Learning Center position at Stepping Stones Early Learning Center?
We are looking for a reliable, organized, and hardworking Kitchen Staff Member to join our team! The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced childcare environment and have the ability to efficiently prepare and serve meals for up to 150 children while following all required food safety and CACFP guidelines.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) menu and requirements
- Follow appropriate serving sizes and portion requirements for different age groups
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time according to the center's daily schedule
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times
- Follow proper food handling, storage, temperature, and sanitation procedures
- Prepare classroom meal/snack carts as needed
- Complete daily kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Wash dishes and operate an industrial dishwasher
- Monitor food, milk and kitchen supplies and communicate ordering needs to administration
- Maintain accurate food counts and other required kitchen documentation
- Work efficiently and stay organized while managing multiple tasks
- Follow all center policies, health and safety regulations, and licensing requirements
- Assist with maintaining a safe and positive environment for the children and staff
What We're Looking For
- Previous kitchen experience strongly preferred
- Previous experience working in a childcare center, daycare, school, or institutional kitchen is strongly preferred
- CACFP experience is a plus
- ServSafe certification strongly preferred; applicants without certification must be willing to obtain certification
- Ability to understand and follow menus, portion sizes, and food safety requirements
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
- Ability to prepare and serve meals for up to 150 children
- Comfortable working around infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children
Requirements
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must successfully pass a drug screening
- Must be able to meet all applicable childcare center employment and licensing requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform routine kitchen duties throughout the workday
- Must be willing to obtain ServSafe certification if not already certified
Schedule
Monday – Friday
7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
This is a daytime, full-time position with no evening shifts.
