Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about helping children and families receive the services they need? Stepping Stone Kids Therapy is seeking a Medical Insurance Benefits Verification & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our growing administrative team!
In this role, you'll play a critical part in ensuring our clients' insurance benefits are verified accurately, claims are followed through to payment, and reimbursement issues are resolved promptly. Working behind the scenes, you'll help support exceptional patient care by ensuring the financial and insurance processes run smoothly.

What You'll Do
- Verify patients' insurance eligibility and benefits prior to the start of services.
- Contact insurance carriers to confirm coverage, copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket responsibilities, and authorization requirements.
- Identify and document primary and secondary insurance coverage.
- Review and manage insurance aging reports to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid, denied, or partially paid claims.
- Research and resolve claim denials, payment discrepancies, and claim rejections.
- Prepare and submit corrected claims and appeals as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Billing, Authorization, Intake, and Clinical teams to resolve insurance-related issues.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all insurance communications and account activity.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and company policies.
- Assist with additional billing and revenue cycle duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year of medical insurance verification, medical billing, accounts receivable, or healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicaid, and managed care plans.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) or billing software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience verifying medical insurance benefits.
- Accounts Receivable (A/R) follow-up experience.
- Insurance aging report management.
- Experience resolving claim denials and payment discrepancies.
- Claims correction and appeals experience.
- Authorization review experience.
- Knowledge of pediatric therapy services or ABA services is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, and in person.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment.
