PRESS BRAKE OPERATOR / SHEET METAL FABRICATOR
From fabrication to final assembly, Stepp is a full manufacturing facility for asphalt maintenance equipment. Our equipment heats, stores, transports, and applies all types of asphaltic material for maintaining the roadways.

4x10 Monday - Thursday with overtime available. Some flexibility available upon prior agreement with manager.
Starting wage range $20-$30 hourly, plus $3 shift differential for 2nd shift
The primary function of the Press Brake Operator is to set-up and operate Stepp's 1 year old Xact Smart Bystronic and LVD Strippit press brake machines.
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to eventually be cross-trained on proper procedures for set-up and operation of multiple pieces of fabrication equipment, including but not limited to Press Brakes, Laser, Roller, and Pipe/ Tubing Bender.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Set-up and operate 225 Ton x 14' Xact Smart Bystronic and 150 Ton x 10' LVD Strippit press brake machines.
- Bend and form sheet metal as needed per job ticket and print issued.
- Size of bends will be anywhere from 1" to 120"
- Sheet metal thicknesses range from 20ga up to 3/8"
- Sheet metal weights range from 5# up to 250# each
- Sheet metal dimensions may be as large as 5'x10' in size
- Familiarity with "tolerances" - /-1 degree
- Assist with preventative maintenance for all fabrication equipment being used
- Identify defects and manage quality using Inspection Procedures (IP)
- Ensure on time parts deliveries
- Assist with 5S / housekeeping activities
- Ability and willingness to cross-train and fill-in where needed
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Blueprint reading
- Forklift and crane operations
- Possess mathematical problem-solving ability
- Demonstrate appropriate use of various measuring equipment
- Knowledge of mathematical principals such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and converting between decimals, percentages, fractions, and whole numbers
- Material identification – steel, aluminum, stainless
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent reaching and lifting 0-50 lbs. Overhead cranes available.
- Requires ability to grip with hands/fingers for sustained periods of time
- Repetitious bending and standing for extended periods of time to be expected.
- Frequent bending/ twisting/ turning
- Frequent and extended periods of standing and walking required
- Operation of equipment and machinery such as overhead cranes and/or forklifts
- Remaining alert to surroundings, specifically when operating equipment and/or machinery
- Must be able to reason and partake in critical decision making.
- Attention to detail and concentration towards task at hand.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- 2 years sheet metal fabrication experience is preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
