Position Summary
The School Administrative Assistant provides clerical, organizational, and customer service support to ensure the efficient operation of the school office. This role is often the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors and requires professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as the primary contact for the front office; greet and assist students, staff, families, and visitors.
Answer phones, route calls, and respond to inquiries with professionalism.
Manage student attendance, including check-ins/outs and daily attendance records.
Maintain and update student files, records, and school databases.
Assist with scheduling, calendar management, and coordination of school events.
Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents as requested.
Support student needs.
Receive, sort, and distribute mail and deliveries.
Assist with ordering, inventory, and distribution of office and school supplies.
Ensure confidentiality of student and staff information.
Provide general administrative support to the principal and school staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior office, clerical, or school-based experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Proficiency with office software (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office).
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain organization in a busy environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
Ability to work respectfully and effectively with students, families, and staff.
Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
