Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide support and guidance to individuals dealing with mental health challenges by sharing your own lived experiences and offering encouragement.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage with clients and promote positive behavioral changes
- Provide mentoring and support to individuals in navigating the behavioral health system
- Offer crisis intervention and assist individuals in managing mental health crises
- Collaborate with professionals in social work, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and crisis management to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Advocate for clients within the healthcare and social services systems
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing, mentoring, crisis intervention, behavioral health, mental health counseling, social work, addiction counseling, and crisis management
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Compassionate and empathetic approach towards supporting individuals with mental health challenges
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
