Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design and technical oversight of new development projects, with a focus on electrical infrastructure. This includes medium-voltage distribution systems, power generation assets, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, feeders, motors, and associated control systems. The role ensures safe, reliable, and optimized system performance through strong engineering practices, equipment specification, and system-level problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual electrical engineering efforts for new projects
- Oversee detailed engineering design, specifications, and technical evaluation of equipment including MV switchgear, transformers, protective relays, motor control systems, and distribution components
- Design and integrate power generation and backup systems (gas turbines, reciprocating engines, steam turbines)
- Develop and review sequence of operations, control logic, and system integration requirements
- Support system studies such as load flow, coordination, arc flash, and reliability assessments while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards
- Provide engineering leadership for capital projects, upgrades, and system modifications
- Diagnose complex electrical and control system issues and implement engineered solutions
- Collaborate with operations teams to align system performance with production requirements
- Partner with site leadership to ensure system reliability and operational resilience
- Act as a technical resource across multiple locations, including due diligence and emergency support
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, focused on large industrial or utility distribution systems, including protective relaying
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Experience working within a matrix organizational structure
- Ability to build strong relationships across both functional and business leadership teams
Working Conditions
- Primarily remote with periodic work in an office environment
- Occasional travel to project sites with varying environmental conditions
- Standard office-related physical activities including sitting, computer use, and light lifting (up to 10 lbs)
- Requires clear communication, visual focus, and repetitive hand movements associated with computer work
Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
