What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Stelvio Inc.?
Business Development Research Analyst
This is not a traditional BDR role.
Rather than booking meetings or running outbound sequences, this role operates at the very front end of long-term revenue creation. The Business Development Research Analyst is responsible for uncovering, qualifying, and shaping complex, high-value opportunities years before they formally come to market.
You will act as the intelligence engine behind commercial strategy, identifying future programs, mapping decision-making ecosystems, and positioning the business ahead of competitive RFP processes. This role is ideal for someone with an engineering, analytical, or systems-thinking background who enjoys research, problem-solving, and understanding how large organizations make decisions.
What You’ll Do
Identify Future Revenue Opportunities
- Research public agencies, large institutions, and enterprise organizations to uncover upcoming programs, funding cycles, and strategic initiatives
- Identify early-stage opportunities well before formal RFPs are released
Map Complex Decision-Making Environments
- Identify and engage with multiple stakeholders including decision-makers, operators, technical influencers, and procurement teams
- Understand how internal divisions, tooling groups, and operational units influence buying decisions
- Develop a clear picture of who matters, why they matter, and when they matter
Own the Opportunity Intelligence Function
- Create and manage a structured opportunity tracker covering timelines, stakeholders, and internal readiness
- Surface insights that shape pursuit strategy well ahead of RFP drops
- Track opportunity evolution on a month-to-month basis to maintain forward visibility
Collaborate Across the Business
- Work closely with sales, engineering, product, and operations teams to align early on upcoming pursuits
- Ensure internal teams are prepared and strategically positioned before opportunities formally enter the market
- Support pre-RFP qualification, positioning, and intelligence gathering
You’ll Thrive If You…
- Enjoy research more than cold calling
- Like solving complex puzzles and understanding how large systems work
- Are naturally curious and commercially minded
- Think several steps ahead and enjoy long-term strategy
- Learn quickly and adapt easily
Background We’re Looking For
- Engineering, technical, analytical, or research-oriented background
- Strong organizational and information-structuring skills
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and long sales cycles
- Experience with public sector, infrastructure, technology, or enterprise environments is a plus
- Exposure to RFP processes or pre-sales environments is helpful but not required
