Certified Coding Specialist

Stellis Health is looking for a full-time Certified Coding Specialist to join our team.

Position Summary: The Certified Coding Specialist is responsible for reviewing both electronic and written documentation of clinical visits and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural coding using ICD-10 and CPT-4 methodologies.

Essential Functions

• Reviews provider documentation and assign codes that support service rendered.
• Supports business office staff with claim denial appeals.
• Monitors payer coding requirements to ensure billing compliance.
• Serves as a point of contact for providers that have coding questions.
• Performs level of service audits on random providers as assigned by Business Office Manager.
• Responds to patient inquiries that pertain to coding questions/disputes.
• Keeps current on work queue assignments in EMR practice management system.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of medical insurance claim process, provider billing, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and HIPAA
• Understanding of payer contracts and compliance regulations
• Strong investigative, information gathering, and problem-solving skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Experience with EMR systems and Microsoft Office

Requirements

• Associate’s degree and minimum of 5 years of coding experience
• Successful completion of a certified coding program (AAPC/AHIMA)
