Backed by KKR, a leading global investment firm, Stellar Renewable Power is a utility scale solar and storage development, finance and operating company. We support the full project lifecycle from greenfield real estate acquisition through development, finance and operations.
We are experiencing significant growth and are seeking a motivated and business-oriented attorney to join our in-house legal team. This role will support all stages of the project lifecycle for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects including partnering closely with the Development, Procurement, EPC, Finance, and Operation teams.
Position: Counsel / Senior Counsel (depending on experience)
Location: Remote, United States; with requirement for occasional travel
Overview: As part of a small and dynamic in-house legal team this position is expected to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, exercise commercial judgment and support a solution oriented approach to risk management. Responsibilities will include providing legal advice and guidance for multiple business groups throughout the utility scale solar and battery storage project lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities:
· Real Estate: Support real estate efforts, including drafting, review, redlining and execution of leases, options to lease, easements, right of ways, crossing consents, deeds, purchase agreements and other real property documents.
· Permitting: Support permitting efforts, including review of state, county and local permit requirements, review of proposed permit applications, work with outside counsel on any contested permit applications, attend hearings and support responses to regulatory inquiries.
· Procurement and Construction: Support procurement and construction efforts through drafting, review, redlining, negotiation and execution of engineering procurement and construction agreements, balance of plant agreements, supply agreements, purchase orders, volume commitment agreements,
· Risk Management: Support risk management activities through attendance on project coordinating calls, reviewing applicable legal requirements, reviewing consultant reports identify project requirements, and reviewing contractual obligations.
· Finance: Review draft financing agreements, support team in responding to diligence queries, attend transaction calls and support team’s response to requests.
· Offtake and Interconnection: Support team in review of offtake agreements, negotiation of terms, review and comment on interconnection proposals, and otherwise support the review and execution process.
· Litigation Support: Support litigation matters as they arise, including assessment of case, management of outside counsel, review of filings, development of strategy and managing internal discovery activities.
· General Transactions: Support drafting, diligence, negotiations and other activities related to acquisitions, corporate contracting, corporate governance, compliance, operations and other areas as requested.

Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
· JD from accredited law school
· Active law license from at least one U.S. state
Experience:
· 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team, with willingness to take the initiative.
· Ethical, professional, and respectful workplace manner.
· Demonstrated project management, organizational, leadership, and analytical problem-solving skills.
· Experience in solar industry a plus but not required.
