The main duties and responsibilities of a Maintenance Assistant include:
- Assist in the inspection of buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, etc
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of events, including moving and arranging furniture
- Conduct minor building, HVAC, plumbing and electrical repairs
- Assist with the daily cleaning of the facilities, including sweeping, mopping and trash removal
- Help with landscape maintenance, including mowing grass, trimming hedges and shoveling snow
- Follow all health and safety regulations and practices on every job
- Maintain inventory of repair supplies and materials
- Communicate with supervisors about unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or supplies needed
