Assistant Food Service Director (FSD)

Pay: $25.00–$28.00 per hour, based on experience

Premier Rehab & Healthcare at Burlington is seeking a motivated and organized Assistant to the Food Service Director (FSD) to support our dietary and food service operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a food service or hospitality professional who enjoys working with a team and making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.

Working closely with the Food Service Director, the Assistant FSD will help coordinate daily operations, support staff, monitor inventory, and maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and customer service. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and passionate about creating a welcoming dining experience for residents and guests.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Food Service Director with daily dietary and food service operations.
• Help ensure meals are prepared and served with attention to quality, presentation, nutritional needs, and resident preferences.
• Support the training, supervision, and coordination of dietary staff.
• Assist with staff scheduling, daily assignments, and departmental coverage.
• Monitor food inventory, purchasing, deliveries, and proper storage.
• Help control food costs, reduce waste, and maintain appropriate portion sizes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, sanitation, and dietary regulations.
• Assist with maintaining accurate departmental records, schedules, and reports.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, guests, and facility staff.
• Provide hands-on support to the dietary team and help resolve daily operational challenges.
• Promote teamwork, hospitality, and resident satisfaction throughout the department.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or dietary operations preferred.
• Healthcare, long-term care, or skilled nursing facility experience is a plus.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), Certified Food Service Manager (CFM), or comparable certification is a plus.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices.
• A team-oriented attitude and a commitment to providing residents with a high-quality dining experience.
