The Payroll and Benefits Manager will collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver seamless payroll processing and benefits administration while providing excellent support to employees.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain payroll records and reconcile reports, tax filings, and deductions.
- Manage payroll audits and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness).
- Partner with providers and brokers to evaluate, negotiate, and implement benefits plans.
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare and submit required reports to government agencies and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Oversee administration of FMLA, ADA accommodations, and personal leave requests, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies while supporting employees and managers through the process.
- Serve as the primary contact for escalated payroll and benefits inquiries, providing guidance and support.
- Develop communication materials to educate employees on payroll and benefits programs.
- Provide training and support to managers and staff on payroll and benefits processes.
- Manage and monitor EDI feeds between payroll/HRIS systems and benefits carriers to ensure accurate data transmission (e.g., enrollments, terminations, coverage changes).
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom) and benefits platforms.
- In-depth understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and benefits compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
- High School Diploma
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proactive approach to process improvement and compliance.
