Position Summary
The Associate Director, Release Train Engineer, serves as a servant leader and coach for multiple agile teams, facilitating ART events and processes while assisting teams in delivering value. The RTE is responsible for driving alignment across teams, removing organization level impediments, managing risks in agile teams and across various project dependencies, and fostering relentless improvement. Acting as a key liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams, the RTE ensures transparency, effective communication, and adherence to lean and agile principles. This role requires strong leadership, facilitation, and problem-solving skills to enable predictable delivery and continuous flow of value across the enterprise.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) events such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
- Ensure alignment of teams to the Product vision, objectives, and roadmap.
- Drive continuous improvement across multiple ART’s by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions.
- Manage and communicate program-level risks across various ART’s and project portfolios, dependencies, and impediments; escalate as needed.
- Collaborate with Product Management, System Architects, and other stakeholders to ensure value delivery to end-customer
- Maintain transparency through effective use of metrics, dashboards, and reporting.
- Support and coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Technical leaders in Lean-Agile principles
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and relentless improvement across teams.
- Coordinate with other RTEs , Solution Train Engineers and 3rd party vendors for cross-ART dependencies.
- Ensure compliance with organizational governance and delivery standards.
- Help create standard operating procedures along with templates and artifacts across various agile teams and agile projects.
- Additional responsibilities may be added as business needs evolve.
Required Experience
- Minimum 7 years in technology delivery (e.g., Scrum Master, Technical Program Manager) and a minimum 5 years in leadership roles.
- Expert in SAFE and Lean-Agile principles, with hands-on experience facilitating PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt events for ARTs or multi-team programs.
- Proven ability to manage program-level risks, dependencies, and impediments across multiple teams (4–8).
- Skilled in using delivery metrics (predictability, flow, velocity, WIP, defect trends) to drive continuous improvement.
- Proficient with Jira and/or Azure DevOps, including boards, roadmaps, dependency mapping, and dashboards.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, influencing cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, resolve conflict, and lead cultural change through strategic thinking and organizational change management.
- SAFE SPC, SSM, POPM, RTE; knowledge of auto finance operations and regulatory frameworks (Dodd-Frank, CFPB) is a plus. Education: Bachelor’s Degree Typically in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Organizational Development, Engineering, or a related field. Skills Required:
- Demonstrated expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) with practical application in both operational and customer-focused environments; proficient in Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams, including executive leadership.
- Proven ability to mentor teams, resolve conflict, and drive cultural change through strategic thinking and organizational change management practices.
- Analytical mindset with experience interpreting Agile performance metrics to support continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of auto finance operations (e.g., loan origination, servicing) and understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., Dodd-Frank, CFPB) are a plus. Overtime required – required on an as needed basis.
