Job Title: Technician, Jr, Archeology
Job Status: Part time
Location: Puget Sound Region (Seattle, Tacoma)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Archaeologist Technician. In this role, you will work closely with experienced archaeologists to assist in the excavation, documentation, and analysis of archaeological sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in archaeology, excellent organizational skills, and a willingness to learn and contribute to fieldwork and laboratory activities.
Responsibilities:
- Fieldwork Assistance:
- Participate in archaeological field surveys and excavations under the guidance of senior archaeologists.
- Assist in the collection, documentation, and preservation of artifacts and samples.
- Maintain accurate field notes and records.
- Laboratory Work:
- Clean, catalog, and analyze artifacts and samples in the laboratory.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations based on laboratory findings.
- Data Management:
- Organize and manage archaeological data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain an organized and efficient workflow.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of archaeological tools and equipment.
- Ensure the proper care and storage of field and laboratory equipment.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior archaeologists, researchers, and other team members to achieve project goals.
- Communicate effectively within the team and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous fieldwork or laboratory experience in archaeology is desirable.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in data collection and analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and follow instructions.
