SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
This position reports directly to the Director of Quality. As a hands-on Quality Technician, you will be responsible for executing general inspection functions, both visual and dimensional, including correctly and properly using measuring devices and test equipment to record and report daily/weekly results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Inspect in-process or finished production assemblies and sub-assemblies for conformance to quality standards and customer specification requirements
· Inspect and test incoming parts and product using check sheets and work instructions.
· Have extensive knowledge and use of handhelds inspection equipment to measure product dimensions and product acceptance. The use and knowledge of CMM is a plus.
· Able to perform first piece inspection, first article inspection and the necessary paperwork associated with these inspections
· Read and interpret engineering level mechanical drawings
· Determine acceptance or rejection of materials and products presented for inspection
· Document inspection results and maintain written reports and records within the quality database
· Assist Quality team members, Production staff and/or Management with failure analysis and nonconforming material data
· Issue and post Quality Alerts to address nonconformance issues where applicable
· Participate in team member training
· Accomplish inspection related tasks as directed by the Director of Quality and/or Management Team
· Assist in ISO 9001 assessment (audit) activities to help maintain company registration certification
· Sustain a safe and clean working environment
· Support Production, Engineering, and other internal departments to further the interests of the company
Requirements
· Previous experience in Quality Assurance Inspection and/or Production Engineering environment
· Basic knowledge and understanding of SPC (statistical process control) and its applications
· Good practical use of measuring equipment and measuring techniques
· Capable of making independent decisions, while being appreciative of Department managers and existing protocols
· Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize workload
· Strong verbal and written skills
· Excellent team working and adaptability
· Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
· Attention to detail
· Flexible and trustworthy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Position requires standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, and/or lifting up to 30 pounds 20% of the time.
· Strong aptitude traits – critical thinking skills
· Ability to use standard office equipment in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no direct reports
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Assembly production environment
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full time, Monday through Friday 6:30am-3:00pm
TRAVEL: No travel is expected in this position.
