Position Summary:
Designs and develops District and Enterprise-level security solutions based on long-term IT strategies. Leads the research, development and implementation of multiple, highly technical and complex security projects utilizing appropriate security engineering processes. Leads, researches, evaluates, and recommends new technologies for inclusion in IT strategic plans. Provides technical consultation to business areas and technical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with multiple teams in analyzing technical requirements of proposed security solutions for multiple initiatives.
- Researches and recommends security architectures, platforms, frameworks, and patterns that best support the functional and non-functional business requirements for proposed systems.
- Manages the integration and implementation of new technology for multiple development projects.
- Develops, tests, and implements the most critical or complex network impacting systems and software changes using multiple technologies and development tools.
- Plans and executes system integration with existing technical infrastructure and automated business processes.
- Collaborates with other engineers and specialists in the support and resolution of security problems.
- Provides subject matter expertise in analyzing, troubleshooting, remediating, and resolving issues.
- Partners with business customers to deliver security expertise that balances business value with risk management, and evaluates technical changes supporting business lines in meeting their objectives.
- Mentors junior team members in planning efforts, sharing technical expertise, and fostering growth through hands-on coaching, knowledge transfer sessions, and collaborative problem-solving opportunities.
- Provides consultation, and training to staff on security architecture, risk mitigation tactics, frameworks, patterns, software coding, and Internet/intranet technologies. Ensures team procedures and processes are established and maintained.
- Performs architectural evaluations and develops prototypes using various software tools to determine the feasibility and cost effectiveness of alternative approaches to development efforts.
- Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and provides guidance to management for strategic planning.
- Leads project teams to evaluate, review, and recommend new technologies and development techniques for use in development projects.
- Provides subject matter expertise in software security, developing technical standards, and establishing strategic directions for security.
- Represents the District on Enterprise-level initiatives and/or workgroups dealing with security architecture and application security.
The ideal candidate will:
- Bring a wealth of cloud security architecture knowledge in the Azure and AWS spaces
- Autonomous worker (i.e. curious, self-starter who does not need to be micromanaged), yet a team player that can collaborate broadly as relationship building will be pivotal of for success
- Agile in how the work gets done, as processes can change periodically
- Patient as nothing moves quickly at the client and can be the source of frustration for many new staff
- Willing to share information with others (especially junior team members, interns)
- Clear communicator, at all levels of the organizational structure, that's able to explain how they arrived at a decision
Salary : $60 - $65
