Position Overview
SteerBridge is seeking a qualified Construction Manager-Mechanical Engineer (CM-ME) to support construction, renovation, and infrastructure upgrade efforts for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi, MS.
This is an on-site role. The Mechanical Engineer will support construction activities directly in the field, including coordination, inspections, and quality assurance oversight. This role requires close collaboration with contractors and stakeholders to ensure construction aligns with project requirements and operational needs.
Limited local or regional travel may be required in support of project needs.

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (required; no substitutions)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required
- OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certification (required)
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting major construction projects in a construction management, inspection, program controls, or construction administration capacity
- Experience working in active construction environments performing inspections and coordination
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems within construction projects
- U.S. Citizenship required (for clearance eligibility)
- Experience supporting federal or VA construction projects
- Experience working in healthcare or other regulated environments
- Familiarity with construction management tools and documentation workflows
- Support construction activities through coordination with contractors and project stakeholders
- Perform field inspections of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) to ensure quality and compliance
- Review construction documentation including RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Assist with project scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting
- Identify deficiencies and support QA/QC efforts throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical input
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA requirements
Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
