Steensma Lawn & Power is a growing family-owned business specializing in equipment sales and service for the Lawn & Garden industry in Southwest Michigan. We are currently looking to fill a New Equipment Assembly Manager position at our Kalamazoo location.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the New Equipment Assembly team to ensure high-quality, efficient assembly of all new equipment
- Oversee the full process of assembling, inspecting, testing, and cleaning new equipment before customer delivery
- Coordinate equipment pickup, delivery, and customer handoff, including scheduling and route management
- Personally deliver and demonstrate equipment use and safety features to customers when needed, while ensuring the entire team maintains professional standards
- Assist customers with loading/unloading and provide excellent customer service during deliveries
- Maintain strong communication with sales, service, and parts departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely equipment readiness
- Implement and enforce quality control standards, checklists, and procedures to achieve perfection-driven results
- Manage inventory of assembly parts, tools, and supplies; work with vendors as needed
- Train and develop team members on proper assembly techniques, safety protocols, and customer interaction standards
- Assist other departments and teams with various tasks as business needs require
- Monitor and maintain a clean, safe, and organized assembly area
- Track team performance, attendance, and productivity; conduct regular performance reviews
Qualifications
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience (minimum 2 years preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical, automotive, or small engine equipment
- Excellent customer service and professional communication skills
- Positive attitude, reliable, and highly team-oriented
- Perfection-driven with strong attention to detail and quality focus
- Ability to motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass MDOT Physical and eligible for Chauffer License
- Experience in the lawn & garden, powersports, or heavy equipment industry is a strong plus
Working Conditions
- Position requires a mix of hands-on assembly work and managerial oversight
- Frequent standing for extended periods, walking, and bending
- Regular lifting of 60lbs or more
- Up to 2–4 hours per day in a company vehicle for deliveries and customer support
- Shop and outdoor environment (subject to weather conditions during deliveries)

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
