What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Clerk I - Planning & Zoning position at STEELE COUNTY?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Planning & Zoning Director, the Technical Clerk is responsible to assist the work of Planning and Zoning Department; including providing clerical and technical support to program staff in the areas of building inspections, zoning, septic system regulation, feedlot regulations, agricultural weed inspections, pesticide applicators testing, recycling, water planning implementation, aquatic invasive species prevention, and others.
ESSENTIAL PLANNING & ZONING JOB DUTIES:
· Greets and directs the public in person, by telephone and email. Researches and provides basic information on building permit applications, zoning requests, septic information, recycling questions and/or directs to the appropriate resources or staff members.
· Accepts applications for building permits and zoning requests and reviews applications for completeness.
· Prepares and distributes permits, correspondence, reports, mailing lists, notices, press releases, and related work as assigned by planning and zoning staff or boards within established timelines.
· Completes special projects, reports and research.
· Collects fees for building permits, septic permits, zoning requests, feedlot registrations, feedlot permits, commercial pesticide applicator tests, and processes through Finance office.
· Codes bills and expense reports with proper account numbers, submits to the Finance office for payment and maintains a register of all expenses.
· Coordinates planning commission and board of adjustments meeting notices and minutes. Compiles and distributes Committee materials.
· Attends planning commission and board of adjustment meetings and prepares minutes.
· Maintains contact and term information of Committee members.
· Schedules, administers, and processes commercial pesticide applicators tests.
· Prepares all department files for imagine, scanning and filing.
· Collects, sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail daily.
· Orders supplies and equipment. Coordinates equipment repair. Organizes and maintains departmental paper and electronic filing systems.
· Maintains county departmental website content, calendar, articles, and social media sites for Planning and Zoning Department functions.
· May participate in Enviro Show, Fix It Clinic, Fair Booth or other educational events.
· Sends information to media, as necessary, concerning outreach efforts.
· Provides input and recommendations to department head concerning changes in administrative support operations and or procedures to enhance office efficiency.
· May assist with reviews (ex: gravel pit, deck plans, etc)
· Other duties as assigned.
