Licensed Position
CHOICE Technical is a public teacher-led charter school serving grades 7-12, that utilizes Project Based Learning (PBL). In PBL, lessons are not like a traditional classroom. We push our students beyond just listening to lectures and memorizing facts. Instead, teachers guide and help students turn their personal interests and culture into well thought-out projects. Students explore topics they enjoy while learning real-world skills.
As a teacher-led school, you’ll have a direct role in shaping curriculum, advising practices, and school-wide project-based initiatives.

Student Centered Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Personalized Learning Plans with each student in advisory; update these plans each block.
- Approve, evaluate, and award credit for projects, in accordance with Academic Committee requirements.
- Advise students in the creation, progress, and completion of authentic projects that promote their academic, transitional, and behavioral goals.
- Use continuous and descriptive feedback to guide students to improve their academic competence and self-esteem as learners.
- Conference with students individually on a weekly basis and keep a digital advisor record of these meetings.
- Track and report student progress towards goals and credit completion. This must be reported once per block.
- Develop student-centered seminars in cooperation with the Academic Committee.
- Create and implement curriculum and help maintain the standards specific to your licensure area.
- Actively supervise students in multiple educational settings.
- Collaborate with non-licensed staff to enact best practices for student learning.
- Supervise physical education and recreation as needed.
Parent and Community Centered Responsibilities
- Facilitate frequent communication with parents via email.
- Conference with parents at least two times per school year and as needed.
- Take a leadership role in the development and implementation of Professional Learning Communities.
- Serve on a minimum of two committees including the Academic Committee.
Common Expectations:
- Develop meaningful and appropriate relationships with all students.
- Develop and maintain the ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
- Assist with giving tours of CHOICE, communicating the mission and vision to guests, dissemination of the TAM model, and marketing of the school.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, Minnesota State Statutes, and Federal Regulations.
- Follow the direction of the Board of Directors.
- Develop and carry out yearly professional development plans.
- Model kindness, empathy, rapport building and respect with parents, staff and students.
- Collaborate and learn with colleagues; be receptive to new ideas.
- Become familiar with school evacuation plans, maps, emergency procedures, and codes; supervise and provide leadership during emergencies.
- Assist with building cleaning and maintenance. Help keep and maintain a sanitary and organized environment.
- Coordinate summer hours as needed with the rest of the staff.
- Attend, plan, and chaperone school and community events; be willing to attend events outside the normal school day.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Project-Based style learning
- 2 experience working in the education field

Key Responsibilities
Student-Centered
- Guide students in creating and completing meaningful projects that support academic, behavioral, and transitional goals.
- Create and maintain Personalized Learning Plans; update plans each block.

- Provide weekly one-on-one student conferences and maintain digital advisor records.
- Actively supervise students across classrooms and school settings.
- Collaborate with Special Education advisors to support all students in achieving their goals.
- Develop and lead student-centered seminars and/or workshops in cooperation with the Academic Committee.
- Support curriculum development and maintain standards aligned with your licensure area.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Facilitate weekly communication with parents via email.
- Meet with parents at least twice per school year and as needed.
- Take part in Professional Learning Communities and serve on at least two committees, including the Academic Committee.
- Assist with school tours, community outreach, and dissemination of the TAM model.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Project-Based Learning principles.
- 2 years of experience in education.
- Licensed in the appropriate subject area for your advisory.
