Job Summary- Academic Coaches cultivate consistent, caring, and developmentally supportive relationships with students in a safe learning environment void of judgment and bias. At the same time, Academic Coaches work in tandem with the CXL Team to teach both academic and life success skills, such as but not limited to, social and emotional awareness, organizational efficiency, and study skills. Supporting students individually and collectively to become self-directed learners is also an essential element of the Academic Coach position.
Education/Experience
High School Diploma required and at least one of the following:
BA or AA Degree (preferred)
OR
Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester units with transcripts provided)
OR
Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction (CBEST - California Basic Educational Skills Test or Paraprofessional Test)
Successful applicants should have:
Creative and strategic thinking skills to assist student endeavors.
Ability to think quickly and show patience with students.
The ability to take initiative in helping students identify academic goals and strategies to reach those goals.
Must have current TB clearance and fingerprint screening prior to employment.
