Position Summary
The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of production equipment and facility systems within a manufacturing environment. This role performs advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including CNC machines, lathes, and mills.
In addition to executing preventive and corrective maintenance, the Senior Maintenance Technician plays a key role in identifying root causes of equipment failures, driving corrective actions, and implementing process improvements to reduce downtime and increase equipment performance. This position operates with a high degree of independence, supports cross-functional teams, and serves as a technical resource for maintenance best practices, safety, and equipment optimization.
Job Duties
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair on production and facility equipment
- Lead complex repairs and resolve recurring equipment issues through root cause analysis
- Execute and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Maintain and repair CNC machines, lathes, mills, and associated control systems
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Analyze equipment performance data and recommend improvements to increase uptime and efficiency
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and facility upgrades
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Calibrate and maintain instrumentation and control systems as required
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document work, track trends, and improve maintenance planning
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability, safety, and cost reduction
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including LOTO, OSHA, and company policies
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced technicians (no direct supervisory responsibility)
- Support facility systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and structural components
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and prioritize critical repairs to minimize production downtime
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management
Qualifications
- 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with CNC maintenance and troubleshooting preferred
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley or similar preferred)
- Familiarity with VFDs, motors, sensors, and control systems
- Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and planning
- Proven ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and implement long-term solutions
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- High level of safety awareness and compliance mindset
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment
- High school diploma required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
