The Quality Technician at Steel & O?Brien Manufacturing provides advanced quality support beyond routine inspection activities. Primary Functions
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on fabricated stainless-steel components and assemblies, including weld quality, surface finish, and dimensional conformance
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for dimensional verification (PC-DMIS experience a plus)
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T requirements
- Document inspection results and nonconformances in accordance with company procedures
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues
- Other duties as assigned
Primary Competencies
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
- Skilled use of precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and height gages
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to analyze inspection data and identify trends
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Working knowledge of quality systems and documentation practices
- Dependable and consistent work habits in a production environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience inspecting fabricated stainless steel components and assemblies
- Experience with CMM programming and operation (PC-DMIS a plus)
- Working knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques
- Familiarity with welding inspection and surface finish requirements
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate quality records
