Material Handler/Fork Truck Driver

Position Summary

The Material Handler/Fork Truck Driver is responsible for safely loading and unloading trucks carrying materials and products between the Arcade and Cincinnati locations. This position organizes warehouse and staging areas, moves crates and materials throughout the facility, and ensures shipments are handled accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, organized, dependable, and experienced in operating fork trucks in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate fork trucks and other approved material-handling equipment.
• Load and unload trucks carrying shipments to and from the Cincinnati location.
• Move crates, pallets, materials, and finished products throughout the facility.
• Stage outgoing shipments in the correct location and sequence.
• Verify incoming and outgoing materials against shipping paperwork.
• Inspect shipments for visible damage, missing items, or incorrect quantities.
• Organize crates and materials to maximize warehouse and staging space.
• Secure loads properly to help prevent damage during transportation.
• Deliver materials to designated departments or storage locations.
• Maintain accurate material locations and promptly report discrepancies.
• Assist with receiving, shipping, inventory counts, and general warehouse duties as needed.
• Inspect fork trucks before use and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
• Keep docks, aisles, staging areas, and storage locations clean and organized.
• Follow all company safety procedures and proper material-handling practices.
• Work cooperatively with warehouse, shipping, production, and transportation personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous fork truck operating experience is required.
• Previous experience loading and unloading trucks is strongly preferred.
• Experience working in a warehouse, shipping, receiving, or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely move large crates, pallets, and materials.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and follow shipping documents, labels, and work instructions.
• Dependable attendance and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
• Willingness to complete Steel & O’Brien’s fork truck certification process.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb on and off equipment throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to safely operate a fork truck for extended periods.
• Ability to work around moving equipment, trucks, loading docks, and warehouse traffic.
• Ability to perform work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.

• Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
• May involve exposure to noise and varying temperatures.

Salary Range: $19-$21/hour, depending upon experience.
