Mechanical Testing Lab Technician
- Perform all tasks according to Steel Dynamics health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Ensure monitoring and measuring equipment is verified before use
- Collect and prepare samples for testing
- Perform and evaluate mechanical tests according to standard procedures
- Perform preventative maintenance on all testing lab equipment
- Report any issues to the Mechanical Testing Lab Lead Technician or the Testing Lab Supervisor
- Work with others to repair Mechanical Testing Lab equipment
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness inside and outside of the lab
- Strong safety awareness
- Good communication skills (verbal, written & electronic)
- Self-Motivated and able to work consistently without direct supervision
- Works well with others and independently
- Quality & detail oriented
- Mechanically inclined
- Willing to work scheduled & unscheduled overtime
- Ability to work in extreme environments
- Ability to perform repetitive stretching, reaching, lifting and walking to support routine responsibilities.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to drive to pick-up samples from different operating units
