Job Overview

Steel Curtain Football is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and knowledgeable Flag Football Officials to help create a safe, fun, and competitive environment for our youth athletes. Officials play a vital role in ensuring games are conducted fairly while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players, coaches, and spectators.

This is a paid, part-time position that is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with youth, have a passion for football, and want to make a positive impact in the community. No prior flag football officiating experience is required. Training will be provided for the right candidates.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth NFL FLAG games in accordance with Steel Curtain Football and NFL FLAG rules.
• Enforce game rules fairly, consistently, and professionally.
• Make confident decisions on plays, penalties, scoring, and player conduct.
• Maintain game flow while ensuring player safety at all times.
• Communicate respectfully with coaches, players, parents, and fellow officials.
• Help promote a positive, sportsmanlike atmosphere on and off the field.
• Inspect fields and equipment before games to identify potential safety concerns.
• Assist with field setup and cleanup, including moving cones, footballs, yard markers, and other equipment.
• Report injuries, incidents, or rule concerns to league leadership.
• Attend preseason officials meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 14 years old (or league minimum age).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekend game schedules.
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Able to stand, walk, and move throughout multiple games.
• Previous officiating, coaching, or playing experience is a plus but not required.
• CPR/First Aid certification is encouraged but not required.
