What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steamoji Weston Academy Director position at Steamoji Weston?
What is Steamoji?
Steamoji is a maker academy for kids ages 6–14 that develops future-ready skills through hands-on experiences in engineering, robotics, coding, AI, 3D design, and digital arts. Our mission is to help children build the critical thinking, creativity, resilience and adaptability they'll need to thrive in a rapidly changing world, and become the next generation of builders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- You'd be the first Academy Director hired for Steamoji Weston, shaping the culture, the team, and how families experience the academy from day one.
- You'd help open the very first Steamoji academy in Florida, a true ground-floor opportunity within the brand.
- Direct, uncapped commission tied to net new enrollment growth, where your work has a visible impact on your paycheck.
- As an early team member, you'll be positioned to grow with the business as we expand to additional Miami Metro locations.
- A creative, fast-paced environment where no two days look the same, and your ideas actually shape how the academy runs.
What You'll Do
Lead the Academy
- Oversee daily operations and ensure the academy runs smoothly
- Hire, supervise, and develop a team of facilitators
- Uphold Steamoji's brand and operational standards, including academy cleanliness and safety
- Keep equipment, materials, and supplies stocked, maintained, and ready for every session
Grow the Business
- Generate and follow up on leads, conduct academy tours, and schedule trial sessions
- Own the sales process, from first conversation to registration
- Serve as the face of the Steamoji brand in the local community, occasionally representing us at local marketing events
- Build school partnerships and own the successful launch and ongoing operation of our after-school satellite programs
Support Every Family
- Own the family experience from first tour through every session
- Keep parents informed on how their child is learning and progressing
- Be a hands-on, daily presence for apprentices and families, making sure every visit is fun, safe, memorable, and educational
Who We're Looking For
You're an experienced, enthusiastic education or operations professional who loves working with kids and is just as comfortable in a sales conversation with parents. You're adaptable, a self-starter, and excited by the opportunity to bring an established, proven brand to a new market, rather than needing everything already up and running around you. You think on your feet, stay on top of details, and don't let a lead or a deadline slip.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Proven experience working with children ages 6 and up
- Genuine interest in STEM education and hands-on learning
- Comfort and confidence leading a sales conversation and closing a sign-up
- Experience leading or supervising a team
- Experience managing day-to-day business operations
- Comfortable with everyday technology and social media
- Outgoing, deadline-oriented, and detail-focused
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
