Description

Overview: Responsible for planning coordinating and implementing a comprehensive ESE program; training and coaching staff in the use of effective, research-based methodologies for the development and the academic success of ESE students. Identifying staff developmental needs of the school and providing staff development and follow up coaching related to ESE; and expanding relationships with school and community groups to help ESE’s reach their highest potential. The ESE Coordinator reports to the principal.

Employment Schedule: 11 months, full-time

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Understands how students learn and provides learning opportunities that support intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners
• Evaluates student progress and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved high standards and modifies instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement.
• Support ESE/Gifted teachers in implementing explicit, systemic and rigorous practices through planning, modeling and conferencing
• Assist ESE/Gifted teachers in reflecting on and analyzing their practice and reviewing data related to servicing students with disabilities/gifted status
• Build ESE/Gifted teachers capacity for developing and implementing appropriate IEP/EP programs for students with disabilities/gifted status
• Support the ESE/Gifted teacher to effectively coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of effective educational services which promote academic achievement with students with disabilities/gifted status
• Provide an initial professional development session during pre-service week for all faculty and a department specific PD during Quarter 1 inclusive of student accommodations and best practices.
• Provide instructional support, technical assistance and ongoing staff development on policies and procedures. Provide information to school based personnel on a variety of topics to include updating staff on policy changes.
• Ensure compliance with District requirements:
• Prepare reports to document progress and effectiveness of services.
• Assist in identifying reporting and correcting compliance concerns identified internally; ESE Director must report any concerns to the principal. Correct compliance errors identified internally and externally in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and procedures.
• Utilize the electronic management system to generate IEP documents, inclusive of TERMS/SIS.
• Provides teachers, students and parents with timely data for improvement in student achievement.
• Identify issues which need to be addressed on a school-wide basis and plan strategies that support students with disabilities/gifted status.
• Assist faculty in the implementation of the IEP/EP and the monitoring progress of IEP/EP goals
• Provide teacher support by use of modeling, coaching and other support strategies
• Partner with administration to develop behavior plans for ESE students
• Provide testing support and ensure that student accommodations are met
• Schedule and hold parent meetings as required; maintain regular contact with parents.
• Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
• Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
• Actively engages in professional development opportunities.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Base Salary: $51,051.00
• Sign-On Bonus $1500.00
• Retention Stipend (Referendum): $5,000.00

• Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
• Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
• Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check and drug testing.
• Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
