Role Description The Special Education Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role located in Steamboat Springs, CO. This role supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of special education services across the district, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), supporting educators in differentiating instruction, and collaborating with school leaders, families, and specialists to meet student needs. The coordinator provides professional development and guidance on best practices in special education and inclusive education, monitors student progress, and uses data to inform program improvements. The role also involves contributing to curriculum adaptation, supporting transition planning, and fostering a culture of equity and access for learners with diverse needs.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Special Education and Education, with a strong understanding of IDEA, Section 504, and inclusive practices.
- Proficiency in Curriculum Development and Teaching, including adapting curriculum and instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Proven Educational Leadership experience, such as coordinating programs, mentoring educators, or leading teams in a school or district setting.
- Strong skills in collaboration, communication, and family engagement, with the ability to build trusting relationships across stakeholder groups.
- Ability to analyze student data, manage multiple priorities, and implement evidence-based interventions and supports.
- Relevant state licensure or endorsement in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain), and a bachelor’s degree in education or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working in K–12 public schools and familiarity with Colorado education standards and accountability systems are beneficial.
