Health Technician / Internal Building Substitute (Preschool–5th Grade)

This is a dual role - the main role is in the Health Room and filling in as a substitute for PK-5th grade lead teachers, as needed.
Health Room Responsibilities (Primary Role):
- Support the daily operations of the school health office under the direction of the school nurse
- Provide basic first aid and care for students who are ill or injured
- Administer medications to students in accordance with school policy and training
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
- Monitor and manage student health plans, including allergies, chronic conditions, and emergency protocols
- Communicate with families regarding student health needs as appropriate
- Ensure the health room is clean, organized, and well-stocked
- Support student well-being by fostering a calm, safe, and caring environment
Internal Substitute Responsibilities (As Needed):
- Create an encouraging learning environment for students while their regular teacher is absent
- Effectively manage, instruct, or support the class
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience
- Manage the classroom to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt support strategies to meet the needs of individual students
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including halls, playground, and cafeteria
- Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and instructional activities
- Support individual students and small groups, including those with special learning needs
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure continuity of learning and student support
General Responsibilities:
- Assist with special projects and school-wide needs as assigned
- Participate in whole staff collaboration opportunities
- Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and a team-centered mindset throughout the school day

We’d Love to Talk to You If You Possess:
- Experience working with children and/or in a school or healthcare setting
- A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (preferred)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in health-related situations
- Strength in building relationships with children and families
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and willingness to shift between health room and classroom responsibilities
- Strong self-starter; able to work both with and without supervision
