A well-regarded litigation firm with a strong New York presence is seeking an experienced insurance defense attorney to join its team. You will manage an active insurance defense caseload across all five New York City boroughs, handling matters from intake through resolution — including trial.
What you'll do
- Independently manage a high-volume insurance defense caseload throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island
- Handle all phases of litigation — pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial
- Appear regularly in New York state courts and communicate proactively with carrier clients on case strategy and status
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, including summary judgment
- Evaluate liability exposure and develop defense strategies tailored to each matter
What we're looking for
- 5 years of insurance defense litigation experience, with demonstrated trial experience
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Familiarity with New York civil practice and court procedures across the five boroughs
- Ability to manage a heavy caseload independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Experience with general liability, premises liability, auto, or professional liability defense preferred
Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $120,000 – $150,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
