Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer will assist in the design, development, implementation, and analysis of electrical and electro-mechanical systems and technical processes.
This position works closely with a team of engineers, designers, and technicians to prepare plans, designs, calculations, and technical reports. The Electrical Engineer will support the successful development, implementation, and sustainment of new systems and products, as well as modifications and revisions to existing products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design electrical control systems.
- Design power systems, including VFDs.
- Develop electrical schematics.
- Develop wiring diagrams.
- Develop wire harnesses, including wire lists.
- Create 2D CAD designs for electrical systems; AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Work with mechanical engineers and designers to develop 3D electrical enclosure layouts.
- Complete designs and provide technical direction to assigned designers and technicians.
- Use Product Data Management (PDM) software for revision control.
- Create and edit Bills of Materials (BOMs) using ERP software; SAP experience preferred.
- Apply knowledge of analog and digital electrical circuits and components.
- Select electrical components and support panel wiring.
- Work with communication buses such as RS232/RS422/RS485, CAN bus, LVSB, and Ethernet.
- Follow standard project management practices.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
- Receive and follow direction while working effectively with teammates and colleagues.
- Follow all quality and safety standards.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and work groups as needed.
- Support other projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field required.
- Minimum 3 years of full-time Electrical Engineering experience.
- 3–5 years of related experience preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD for electrical systems design.
- Professional experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) software.
- Experience developing control systems, including:
- Electrical schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- Wire lists
- Electrical enclosure layouts
- Experience with engineering project management tools.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Passed FE exam.
- SolidWorks EPDM experience.
- SAP experience.
- ERP/MRP software experience.
- SolidWorks experience.
- PCB experience.
- Experience with electrical component selection and panel wiring.
- Experience with RS232/RS422/RS485, CAN bus, LVSB, and Ethernet.
Work Environment
This is a 100% onsite position in Hamilton.
ITAR / Export-Controlled Requirements
This position requires access to or use of export-controlled technical data or technology controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
