Position: Landscape Laborer

📍 Location: Palmetto, FL
💲 Pay: Starting at $17.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on experience
🕒 Full-time positions available

Job Summary:

The Landscape Mechanic Assistant supports the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of landscaping equipment and small engines to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role assists the Mechanic with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and organization of tools and shop areas.

Job Duties:

• Assist in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, skid steers, and vehicles
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, blade sharpening, filter replacement, lubrication, and belt inspections
• Clean, organize, and maintain tools, parts, and shop workspace
• Load, unload, and transport equipment as needed
• Assist with equipment inspections and safety checks before and after use
• Identify potential mechanical issues and report findings to the lead Mechanic
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Maintain maintenance logs and assist with parts inventory
• Support field crews with minor mechanical troubleshooting when needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with small engines or lawn equipment
• Willingness to learn mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools
• Valid driver’s license required
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required

Safety & Equipment

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely
• Follow all company safety procedures and job site regulations
• Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or hazards immediately
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods
• Ability to work in various weather conditions
• Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment
