What are the responsibilities and job description for the FORKLIFT OPERATOR position at STATES INDUSTRIES?
SUMMARY: Drive forklift Prefinish line. Coordinates and prioritizes to maximize productivity at both work centers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Forklift certified with the ability to operate the forklift safely in a confined space with heavy foot traffic.
- Maintain forklift at all times and practice good housekeeping standards.
- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize.
- Work independently of others, stay focused to tasks and be self-motivated
- Adhere to all forklift safety rules.
- Quickly and safely clears finished material from end of prefinish line and move it to proper location for next process.
- Must be able to handle finished material without damaging.
- Organize and prioritize workflow and material to banding stalls.
- Read and follow schedule.
- Support the team in achieving all Safety, Production and Quality goals.
- Support and maintain all 5S or Kaizen programs.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience handling prefinished sheet goods is a plus.
- Must possess an active States forklift certification card
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Prior forklift experience, with good forklift driving skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Must have good communication and listening skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to understanding and carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Ability to define problems and draw a valid conclusion enabling you to work towards and/or implement necessary solutions to fix problem.
- Ability to prioritize work center tasks to ensure maximum productivity under competing priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Use of personal protective equipment is required at all times. (Hearing protection and safety glasses)
- Frequent getting on and off the jitney
- Occasional contact with lubricants and propane.
- At times can be very fast paced and stressful.
- General mill environment. High noise, dust, forklift and pedestrian traffic.
Salary : $22 - $23
