State Venture LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with experience in real estate accounting to support a diverse portfolio of commercial, multifamily, and residential properties. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing property-level financials, handling full-cycle accounting, and preparing CAM reconciliations and financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Payable
- Process tenant payments and apply accurately to ledgers.
- Review, code, and post vendor invoices to the correct property and GL account.
- Prepare check runs, ACH payments, and maintain vendor records.
- Track delinquencies and coordinate with property management for collections.
Banking & Reconciliations
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and security deposit accounts.
- Perform credit card reconciliations and ensure all expenses are properly coded.
- Maintain accurate cash balances and assist with intercompany transfers.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly Income Statements (P&L) and Balance Sheets by property.
- Manage the General Ledger (GL) and ensure all journal entries are accurate and timely.
- Assist in producing consolidated financial reports for ownership review.
- Support year-end close and provide documentation for external accountants.
CAM & Budgeting
- Create and maintain Common Area Maintenance (CAM) schedules for all commercial properties.
- Perform CAM reconciliations and prepare detailed tenant statements.
- Assist in preparing annual property budgets and forecast models.
- Review property expenses for accuracy and allocation across multiple entities.
Property Taxes, Utilities & Compliance
- Track and pay property tax bills, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Manage utility accounts, monitor usage, and reconcile billing discrepancies.
- Maintain organized files for insurance, tax, and compliance documents.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Utilize Buildium (or related software) for accounting and property management tasks.
- Streamline reporting and implement best practices for consistency across entities.
- Collaborate with property management to align accounting with operational performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, CAM reconciliations, and property-level accounting.
- Proficiency in Buildium, QuickBooks, or similar software.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple entities and deadlines.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
