The State Preservation Board (SPB) was established for the purpose of preserving, maintaining, and restoring the State Capitol and the 1857 General Land Office, which houses the Capitol Visitors Center. Since that time, Agency operations have expanded to include care of the Governor's Mansion, operating the Bullock Texas State History Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Capitol Mall and three Capitol Complex legislative office buildings. Position
Summary
This position reports directly to the Housekeeping and Grounds Manager and Assistant Manager with additional oversight from the Director of Facilities and will oversee the grounds operations for the Texas State Capitol, Capitol Mall, Governor's Mansion, Bob Bullock History Museum, the Visitors Parking Garage and
three Capitol Complex legislative office buildings.
Performs routine managerial work overseeing grounds activities, maintenance and staff. Major duties include; contract management, equipment maintenance and work productivity. Works closely with Agency management and the Governor's Mansion staff and occupants. Takes overall day to day responsibility of ALL landscape related duties including identifying safety issues and performing training. Oversees fountain maintenance, lawn, flower and shrub care, tree care and the overall health and safety of the grounds and hardscapes. Performs all duties as assigned working within deadlines and deliverable outcomes. Ensures that all assigned areas are clean, well maintained, work place safety standards are enforced, and performs all other related duties in a timely manner. Must also be able to work as part of a results-driven interdisciplinary team. Must be able to work under high expectation standards, set priorities, be flexible and model customer focus. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
