The Department of Revenue is seeking an IS Business Automation Senior in the Compliance Bureau within the Division of Income, Sales, and Excise Taxes. This position is headquartered at the State Revenue Building in Madison, WI.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading and coordinating efforts to design, develop, analyze, document, implement, and maintain customer service delivery systems and technologies for the Compliance Bureau, including the automated call distribution system, voice response unit (VRU), interactive voice response (IVR) and other web-based applications and interfaces. This position will work in tandem with the IS Business Automation position in the Customer Service Bureau to ensure consistency between the bureaus in general policies, templates, call flow, messages, etc. In consultation with business areas, this position requests and monitors progress on customer service system changes, serves as the liaison between the Compliance Bureau, Income Sales & Excise Tax (IS&E) Division and Division of Technology Services (DTS) for customer service delivery systems and technologies, and works with DTS staff to troubleshoot problems with customer service systems.

This position will research and prepare in-depth analysis related to customer service delivery systems and technologies, to include complex problem resolution. This position produces documentation and reports and conducts training.

Salary Information

The starting pay rate for this position is between $35.08 - $40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

The classification of this position is IS Business Automation Senior, which is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 34. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Background Checks: Due to the nature of this position, final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.

I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Remote Work/Telework: This position is eligible for remote work/telework up to 60%. After completion of probation, telework may gradually increase up to 60% based on employee performance and work unit needs. This position will be headquartered at the DOR main office building, 2135 Rimrock Road, Madison Wisconsin. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin and is subject to change based on business needs.

Work Schedule: This position will work Monday – Friday during daytime hours between 7:30am – 5:00pm.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have:

  • Experience administering, analyzing, maintaining, or improving automated customer service delivery systems (e.g., automated call center distribution systems, voice response unit (VRU), interactive response voice unit (IVR), web-based applications, or comparable business systems).
  • Experience gathering business needs and translating them into system requirements, process improvements, project specifications, or technical requests.
  • Experience communicating and providing training, technical assistance, or guidance to employees, system users, or non/technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively on a team.

Well-qualified Candidates Will Also Have The Following Experience

  • Experience serving as the primary liaison between various business areas and information technology staff.
  • Experience gathering business requirements, developing project specifications, prioritizing enhancements, and monitoring system changes through implementation.
  • Experience identifying the root causes of recurring system issues and coordinating troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Experience preparing reports and presenting technical and analytical information to stakeholders such as (e.g., technical staff, managers, executive leadership, etc.).
