Job Details
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage proactive scheduling for Senator Spreitzer as well as day-to-day schedule management;
- Serve as primary contact for constituents visiting the capitol, including meeting logistics and timing;
- Provide excellent service to constituents;
- Assist in hiring, training, and supervising office interns;
- Compile news clips for the 15th Senate District, including events and constituent updates;
- Assist in writing Saw You In The News correspondence to constituents;
- Assist the Deputy Chief of Staff with proactive outreach to constituents;
- Monitor and research legislative proposals and laws in order to respond to constituent outreach;
- Provide clerical and general office support as needed.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience scheduling for an elected official or organization leader;
- Strong verbal and written communications skills;
- Experience in government, politics, non-profits, advocacy, or organizing;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize simultaneous competing projects and duties;
- Motivated self-starter who can work independently and as a part of a team;
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills;
- Knowledge of social media and communications strategies;
- High degree of professionalism and an understanding of discretion, attention to detail, and the occasional long hours needed to effectively staff a state legislator.
