The Department of Corrections, Bureau of Correctional Enterprises is currently recruiting to fill a Financial Specialist Senior position, located at Oregon State Farm in Oregon, Wisconsin.
Position Summary
This position provides accounts payable support, purchasing support, maintains record keeping, enters Persons in our Care staff timecards, supervises Persons in our Care staff clerks. This position is responsible for exercising independent judgment in the preparation and processing of a wide variety of financial documents and transactions. These duties require conformance to State, Department, Division, and Bureau of Correctional Enterprises’ policies and procedures. Additionally, this position is responsible for communication with BCE financial staff and vendors to resolve discrepancies arising from the incumbent’s approval, disapproval, or pre-audit of financial transactions. This position also provides general program support to the Farm Supervisor.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule/range 02-13 with a starting pay rate of $26.61/hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
Qualifications
Applicants will be assessed on relevant experience, including the following:
Modern bookkeeping, purchasing and procurement, policies and procedures, accounting & auditing practices and principles; working knowledge and usage of MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) state accounting systems, and the Internet; ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the public; and identify issues and follow through with problem solving techniques.
