This position serves as a Purchasing Agent for the Department of Health, in the Central Finance Office. The Purchasing Agent is a fast-paced position responsible for communicating with program staff, managers and directors regarding their procurement needs, writing specifications, developing scientific and technical bid packages, evaluating bids, and making award recommendations. The position requires computer proficiency and excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. Previous purchasing experience is a plus but not required. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical experience which included purchasing supplies and maintaining inventory.
OR
Substitution: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
Other Information
For the Bureau for Public Health, four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical experience may substitute for the required experience. This experience does not need to include purchasing supplies and maintaining inventory to qualify.
