Job Title:
Child Welfare Facility Supervisor - Social Service Specialist 5 (SSS5)
Location: Centralia, WA (Aspire House/Centralia Office)
Closes: 9/4/2025
Salary: $6,576 - $8,842 Monthly.
*Note: This position is a 4/10 schedule with the projected days and hours as follows: Sunday - Wednesday from 1:00pm to 11:00pm.*

We are looking for a Social Service Specialist 5 (SSS5) to join our Aspire House team, located in Centralia. Aspire House provides short-term living options for foster youth, aged 13 to 18, who require supervision and do not currently have a placement. These facilities can accommodate up to seven youth, with a staff-to-youth ratio of one Social Service Specialist or support specialist for every three youth. In this role, you will focus on supporting our team as they learn and develop their skills in child welfare practice. The Opportunity:
The Placement Exception Facility Supervisor functions as the first-line supervisor of Social Service Specialists. As the Supervisor you will lead a team committed to providing care that is sensitive to the unique experiences and needs of each youth, with a focus on creating a space where they feel respected, understood, and empowered.

You will utilize cultural competency to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with youth, peers, community partners and other individuals across cultures focusing on understanding and respecting the strengths of the youth. You will lead with a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that all services and operations are designed to support youth impacted by trauma. In this position you will be responsible for overseeing the daily management of the facility, ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where youth can thrive, and work toward their long-term placement.

Some of what you will get to do:
  • Supervise a unit of Social Service Specialists and complete child welfare casework.
  • Model trauma-informed care with all youth and staff in Aspire House.
  • Ensure that the youth at Aspire House receive access to education, nutrition, and youth enrichment activities.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors to ensure appropriate supervisory coverage for the office.
  • Participate in supervisory, administrative, and individual meetings and conferences.
  • Perform quality assurance on staff documentation, assessments, reports, case management, and payment initiation.
  • Ensure that Social Service Specialists document all case activities and information gathered within the case file and FAMLINK electronic record.
  • Lead staff through coaching, counseling, and feedback as necessary.
  • Prepare written performance evaluations for staff utilizing the current Performance Evaluation system.
  • Hire and train new and existing professional staff in the law, policies, and procedures governing their job assignments.
  • Keep staff informed of policies, rules, and regulations affecting their jobs and the clients they serve.
  • Provide consultation and oversight to ensure accurate application of child safety framework.

Required Qualifications:
One year of experience as a Social Service Specialist 4.
OR
Two years of experience as a Social Service Specialist 3.
OR
Eight (8) years of paid social service experience* AND 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline.
OR
A Master's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or Master’s degree which includes 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline AND three years of paid social service experience*.
OR
A Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences OR any Bachelor’s degree which includes 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline AND four years of paid social service experience*.

NOTE: A two-year Master's degree in one of the above fields that includes a practicum may be substituted for one year of paid social service experience.

  • Paid social service experience must include assessing risk and safety to children and providing direct family-centered practice services.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and policies on delivery of child protective and child welfare service within Washington State and deliver services accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience providing guidance, support, and structure to Social Workers ensuring all duties are performed with adherence to the tenets and methods of Safety Framework.
  • Previously demonstrated ability to maintain timely FamLink documentation within program and manual standards, accountability requirements and the agency’s documentation expectations in order to ensure quality of practice and consistency of service delivery to children and families statewide.

The incumbent must successfully complete Supervisor Core Training (SCT) within one year of initial appointment.


The incumbent must successfully complete formal training courses as required by law, policy, and regional requirements within one year of their appointment.

Incumbent must have and maintain a Washington State Food Handler’s Permit within 14 days of initial appointment.

This position requires a minimum of at least two years of driving experience and a valid driver’s license.

Degrees must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at naces.org. Foreign Equivalency certification must be attached to the application for degrees obtained outside the U.S.
