The Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a Supervisor, Program Manager position on the Intake Team, needed to help achieve safety, well-being, and permanency for children, and success in providing services for families in our communities.

This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule. A hybrid schedule includes both teleworking and in-office work.

The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside Utah state boundaries.

Starting Pay: $32.29

The Centralized Intake office operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The schedule for this position is Wednesday through Sunday, 1 pm to 10 pm. Occasional on-call may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing/Supervising a team of child welfare professionals who process referrals of child abuse and neglect including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Being available to assist intake personnel in making decisions about child abuse and neglect referrals.
  • Coordinating program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc.
  • Monitoring and evaluating operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; making recommendations for improvement.
  • Developing and coordinating plans and policies, resources, and mission, as well as goals, vision, and expectations for the agency and/or program; preparing and updating plans and priorities.
  • May include performing 24-hour on-call services as required under supervisor's direction. 24-hour on-call services assignments may be based on, and subject to, geographic employment location and/or agency demand.

Qualifications

  • Current employee of the Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS).
  • Possesses current licensure as a Social Service Worker, Certified Social Worker, or is licensed as a professional counselor or marriage and family therapist; or who have an active licensure in the State of Utah as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Counselor (LCSW License).
  • Has three or more years experience with the Utah Division of Child and Family Services and/or the equivalent agency in another state.
  • Foundational knowledge of DCFS policies, procedures, and practices, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Foundational knowledge of agency and community resources and services.
  • Adept at interacting professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding of principles, theories, and practices of human behavior, and human growth and development.

Preference

Preference May Be Given To Candidates Who Have

  • Experience/knowledge with the DCFS Intake Program
  • Experience/knowledge with the DCFS Child Protective Services (CPS)

Supplemental Information

May require 24-hour on-call services/time. 24-hour on-call services response time to be determined by the agency.

All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).

Physical Requirements

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
