- Location: UDOT Region Three – Orem, Utah

As the Stormwater Program Specialist, you will:
- Communicate with the Stormwater Program Manager, Region Stormwater Coordinators and other UDOT staff to understand program needs and help create tools to meet those needs
- Manage, input, analyze, and interpret data; and report findings to help the stormwater team make programmatic decisions
- Perform technical writing, including reports, standard operating procedures, and program summaries
- Create engaging training and presentation materials
- Communicate technical information and trainings to a variety of audiences
- Assist with the organization of data related to spill response and referrals of illicit discharges in UDOT’s right-of-way
- Implement UDOT’s long-term stormwater best management practice (BMP) inspection and maintenance program
- Assist the RSCs in the maintenance of the UPLAN region GIS map for UDOT’s stormwater conveyance system and long-term stormwater BMPs
- Assist the RSCs in the development of TMDL compliance plans
- Review project plan sets showing temporary stormwater pollution prevention BMPs
- Update facility Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) as needed
- Support each UDOT region by inspecting, conducting field assessments, and training at maintenance stations, ports of entry, construction sites, and priority areas to ensure Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit compliance. Provide inspection and training documentation. Follow-up on corrective actions as needed
- Assist in dry weather screening of outfalls and the inspection of long-term stormwater BMPs with follow-up inspections and documentation as needed
- Professionally correspond and coordinate with UDOT staff, as well as various outside partners such as contractors and consultants
- Maintain documentation and assist in the preparation of UDOT’s Annual Report
- Attend Utah Stormwater Advisory Committee (USWAC) and other coalition meetings as needed
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A valid driver license
- A Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an environmental science, GIS, or other related field
- Note: Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis (e.g., 4 years of total related experience if no degree is held).
- Have a thorough understanding of stormwater quality regulations, other related rules and regulations, and pollution prevention best management practices
We may give preference to candidates who have:
- Be proficient with Google Suite including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides
- Have experience with ArcGIS Online, Survey123, or other online tools to collect/record data
The successful candidate must:
- Have strong organizational skills
- Be willing to go above and beyond to serve as a resource to others
- Be comfortable giving presentations to small and large groups, and leading meetings
- Have the ability to prioritize needs of multiple projects and to efficiently accomplish project tasks
- Be able to lead by example
You must be willing to work under the following conditions:
- Risks found in rugged terrain of UDOT's right of way. This includes walking, looking at roadside detention ponds, stormwater outfalls that discharge into waterways, etc.
