Seeking candidates who excel in providing exceptional customer service to individuals over-the-phone and enjoy working in a fast-paced call center environment.
The Claims Technician position has two primary functions, to answer incoming customer service calls from the medical community and public regarding provider enrollment credentialing, and other related information to enroll medical providers into the Medicaid system. The technician responds to phone, electronic, fax and mail inquiries regarding the status of provider applications, and explains and interprets Medicaid policies, guidelines, benefits and procedures regarding Medicaid.
The Claims Technician is required to be logged into the phone system for up to 7 hours/day and takes between 40 to 60 calls a day.

Preference May Be Given For The Following
- Spanish speaking skills
- prior professional working experience with provider enrollment or credentialing
- Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to Utah within 30 days of their start date.
- This position may currently be a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion, at any time, and for any reason.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:
- Answers customer service calls regarding provider enrollment applications, credentialing and validations from providers.
- Enters, retrieves and/or corrects applications as needed in the PRISM system. Receives, researches and responds to incoming questions or complaints; provides information, explains policy and procedures, and/or facilitates a resolution.
- Prepares supporting documentation for policy/procedure changes for policy review. Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
